Next in our series of ‘meet the team’ blogs is Livvy Brass.
Livvy is one of the newest members of our team, having joined us as a conveyancing executive in February 2022. Despite this, she’s quickly making her mark as a valued member of the team.
What does a typical working day include for you?
It’s usually organised chaos! From keeping up with the fast flow of emails to speaking to clients all whilst reviewing title documentation, search results and enquiries in a timely manner to ensure I meet client deadlines.
Can you give us a brief overview of your career history?
I started off in the police as a digital & computer forensics expert straight out of university. After deciding that job wasn’t for me, I wanted to try something completely different. I felt quite lost at first but soon found my calling in conveyancing.
I started out at a large conveyancing firm in Leeds called Enact, before relocating back to Durham a year later. From there I joined Evans & Co Solicitors where I worked as a conveyancing executive for two and a half years.
What made you want to work in the legal industry?
I was lost once I left the police and decided to try something completely different.
What do you enjoy most about your job role?
The appreciation from a happy client when you get to tell them they can pick up the keys to their new home.
What do you enjoy most about working at Grey-Smith Legal?
The people – I’ve never worked with such a lovely, appreciative team.
What would you say to anyone considering working in the legal industry?
It’s hard work but rewarding.
What is your proudest moment?
Managing to secure a job in the subject I studied for straight out of university – even if it didn’t work out in the long run, it was still a big achievement.
Most important lesson you have learned in your working life:
Always ask questions – no question is stupid.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A nurse, but my stomach for blood put a stop to that pretty early on!
What has been your strangest job?
The police – you really have no idea what you’ll face when you turn up in the morning.
What do you do to relax?
Baking, enjoying time with friends and family, and binge-watching Netflix.
What’s your hot drink of choice and how do you have it?
Classic cup of tea, no sugar – I’m sweet enough!
